It had to be better in all aspects than the sixth version, what the new PlayStation technology that was just beginning to hype at that time. But it had to bring in a story that was as engrossing as the past versions' storylines. It was successful in all respects - a turning point not only for Final Fantasy as a game, but for the whole RPG and gaming world. I played the game for 2 minutes and I was hooked.
